Wednesday Accident In West Seneca Claims A Life

January 20, 2011 Updated Jan 20, 2011 at 12:49 PM EDT

WEST SENECA, NY ( release) 31 year old Amy Vidinovski of West Seneca was operating a 2003 Chevrolet traveling westbound on Ridge Rd in the area of the Rt 219 entrance ramp when she crossed over the center line into the eastbound lanes of traffic, and struck an oncoming car head on Wednesday afternoon.

The other vehicle, a 2011 Subaru, was operated by 54 year old John Brockenshire, Jr. of Elma. Upon their arrival at the crash scene, responding officers found Vidinovski unresponsive, and pinned in her vehicle.

The officers immediately began CPR and used an AED on Vidinovski in an attempt to revive her. They continued their efforts until Vidinovski was extracted from the vehicle by firefighters from Seneca Hose and Reserve Fire Companies, at which point paramedics took over treatment.

Vidinovski was then transported to Mercy Hospital in South Buffalo where she was pronounced dead on arrival. Brockenshire was also transported to Mercy Hospital where he was treated and released.

The WSPD Accident Investigation Unit is still in the process of determining the cause of the accident.

It is unknown at this time if Vidinovski suffered a medical emergency prior to the crash, if the crash in fact resulted in her death, or if any other factor may have played a role in this accident.

An autopsy was conducted Thursday morning at the Erie County Medical Examiner's Office and our Department is awaiting the results. This investigation is not yet concluded.
