BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - A high wind warning was just the beginning. Gusts of nearly 70 miles per hour were felt throughout western New York on Saturday. Numerous trees and power lines were downed causing scattered power outages.
The most powerful winds were felt north of Buffalo in Niagara and Orleans counties. Now that the winds are diminishing, snow is moving in. Colder temperatures and snow shower are in the forecast for Sunday. We could see 1 to 2 inches in the metro area with Lake Effect snow setting up south of the city. The southern tier could see 2-4 inches Saturday night and Sunday. Lake Effect snow will diminish Sunday evening giving way to mainly clear skies Sunday night.
