BUFFALO, N.Y. ( WKBW ) Thousands enjoyed spending time at Buffalo's waterfront this weekend. When the weather his nice, people want to be near the water.
Buffalo has big plans in the works for the waterfront, and there is no shortage of ideas of what should be developed there.
Channel 7's Allen Leight visited the waterfront and gathered comments from many people on what they would like to see developed along the outer harbor.
Ideas ranged from an amusement park, to more restaurants, to longer piers for people to walk out and enjoy the water.
Overall, citizens want more things for people to do.
Discussions involving land owned by the NFTA, where the old Pier Restaurant used to be, have suggested more green space. Some have called for a waterfront stadium.
Some people Eyewitness News caught up with say their voices are not being heard. They want more activities the general public can embrace like swimming, and more hiking trails. Some people said more concerts would be fun.
One thing everyone did agree on was the beauty of the waterfront, and what a gem it is for residents in Western New York.
One person told Eyewitness News that people don't know how nice it is unless they come down here, noting that the time is now for positive development in the Buffalo Niagara area.
