Construction activity along Route 5 in Hamburg is catching the attention from motorists who pass by. It's part of the Route 5 Gateway Entrance Project at the intersection of Route 5 and Big Tree and Hoover Roads. Crews are building a 35 foot high clock tower and a concrete viewing plaza, right along Lake Erie. The finished project will also include benches, sidewalks and more. The work is being funded through a federal highway grant and the Town of Hamburg. The clock tower is is located in Hoak's parking lot, in a state highway right of way.
Small businesses will meet up with potential business clients this week. Call it "speed dating" for businesses. The U.S. Small Business Administration is hosting its 8th annual Matchmaker event at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center on Wednesday.
The event combines education, networking, and face-to-face meetings between small businesses and representatives from government agencies and major corporations. It is complete with an awards luncheon.
