CHEEKTOWAGA, NY ( WKBW ) One thousand walkers gathered at Cheektowaga Town Park Sunday for the 19th annual "Walk To Remember."
The walk is held by the Western New York "Perinatal Bereavement Network" in memory of infants who have died.
Money raised will go to services to assist parents who have lost infants and young children.
Christine Scott, Executive Director of the WNY Bereavement Network told Eyewitness News, "These parents, a little piece of their heart is going to be healed today...and that is why this walk is so important. I am so honored to work with my committee and run it, and know that we are giving families hope."
The group is also celebrating recent legislation that allows parents to receive a certificate of still birth - meaning that their child is recognized by the state. Parents say this eases their grieving process.
