BUFFALO (WKBW) From temperatures in the sixties, to snow? Playing golf in Delaware Park to scraping and brushing snow off of your car in just over 24 hours? But are Western New Yorkers say they're ready for the potentially first big snow of the season.

"Absolutely. I would hope so anyway. By now, sure," friends Gabrielle Petersen and Lauren Bell said.

"We're always prepared. And if we're not, we will be soon," Patty Mash added.

With the snow expected, business was up at Casullo's Automotive Elmwood Avenue, as drivers took care of last minute needs before Mother Nature fired up the lake effect machine.

"We've definitely seen an increase today in phone calls and drive-ups. People looking for wiper blades, can you do a quick battery check, a couple people with their snow tires asking can you change them over today because the weather is coming tomorrow," Rocco Casullo said.

But it's not just the cars prepping for the arrival of winter.

"Today we had a rush to have three snow plows to be completed by 5 o'clock today because the guys just waited until the last minute," Casullo added.

Many hardware stores in the area say most people actually wait until after the snow starts falling to stock up on shovels, salt, and the winter necessities.

And from procrastination to just not thinking it would happen, Western New Yorkers are a confident bunch when it comes to a little lake effect.

"No big deal. We can handle this. Absolutely. What is it? Three inches? That's nothing. We'll be fine," Petersen and Bell said.

"Like they say, if you don't like the winter in Buffalo, just wait five minutes," Larry Prince added.
