BUFFALO, NY ( WKBW ) Buffalo and Western New York have taken a lead role in "The Big Chill!" It isn't the sequel to the popular movie from the 1980's...it is the bitter cold, snow, and subzero wind chills holding an icy grip on the region.

Stuart Schanzlin is a jogger. He and Mary Lou Forte decided they were not going to let the cold get in the way of their exercise routine. They are just some of the Western New Yorker's doing their best to deal with mother nature's cold shoulder.

When temperatures drop, it can become dangerous for those who have nowhere to go. Jeremy Toskanoski spent the night at one of Buffalo's warming shelters. He sought the warmth and comfort so he would not freeze to death.

The City Mission and other shelters are open during this cold snap. Information is available here at wkbw.com

Through it all, residents of the Queen City seem to be putting a positive spin on winter, even if it freezes the smile to your face.

As one jogger Eyewitness News caught up with today said, wamer weather is just, "months away."
