Western New York ranks #2 in the country for M.S. cases. Experts say they've found three factors which appear to play a role.
1.) Lack of Vitamin D - the lack of sun in Western New York winters could be an issue and scientists say there's a link. Consider the other cities with high rates of M.S. are Seattle and Minneapolis
3.) Genetics - If someone else in your family has the disease, the risks increase.
Dr. Weinstock-Guttman says Annette Funicello's struggles helped to bring awareness and attention to the disease.
