BUFFALO (WKBW) With less than 24 hours until the polls open for the general election, here is what you need to know and expect when heading to the polls.

First things first: know where your polling place is.

"We've moved a number of polls due to the redistricting. This year, the Congress, the State Senate, the State Assembly all changed their district line which affected polling locations," Ralph Mohr, Republican Commissioner of the Erie Co. Board of Elections said.

When you get there, several polling places will have greeters there to direct you where you need to go.

"The greeter concept provides personnel who have street finders who can actually tell them if they're in the right building and if they are, which is the right table to go to," Dennis Ward, Democratic Commissioner of the Erie Co. Board of Elections said.

What do you have to bring with? Most voters in Erie County have been pre-qualified, but all voters are encouraged bring identification just in case.

"Bring your drivers license or your voter card, because your voter card will also tell you your election district and your polling location," Mohr said.

Because it is a Presidential Race, election officials say the only thing that changes is turnout, and that they have taken steps to limit lines and waiting, but to be prepared anyway.

"We tend to increase the number of people who are working at the polling sites, so where we might have had four we now will have 6 election inspectors working," Ward said.

"We expect it to be very busy, so go on off hours. Don't go right after dinner, don't go on your way to work, go at a time that may be off and you might not have to wait in line," Mohr added.
