Buffalo, NY- Buffalo Police continue to investigate the shooting deaths of two Buffalo men. Friday, 21-year-old old Jay Emillio Nieves was gunned down on Vermont Street. Nieves was a member of the United States Army. Police are still searching for the suspect in the case: 17-year old Joshua Nieves. Saturday 82-year-old Ansumane Kanneh, a refugee from Liberia, was struck by a stray bullet near the Maryner Homes Complex. Police do not believe the shootings are related. Stop the Violence Coalition believes the cycle of violence can end once everyone comes together.

"We're either going to talk about it or we're going to do something about it," said Stop the Violence Coalition Chairman Alree Daniels. "We can't afford to talk about it anymore because it doesn't appear to be getting any better."

The group is in the beginning stages of renovating a building on Walden Avenue into a transitional center for young people. According to members, the building will to help provide long and short term care for troubled boys aged 12 -18.
