Buffalo, N.Y. (WKBW) -- Around two dozen people came out Friday evening to remember young girl. A girl who many are calling a hero. Early Monday evening, Alina Rodriguez drowned in Cazenovia Creek as she swam with family and friends.

Alina is credited with pulling her younger sister out of the water when she was in trouble. But, moments later she got into trouble herself. To pay tribute to her friend, Nashaly Mercado asked her family to help her organize tonight's vigil at the site, in Cazenovia Park, where her friend lost her life. Nashaly and Alina were best friends.

The group prayed for Alina and her family. Several people who regularly use the park joined tonight's vigil
