BUFFALO, NY ( WKBW ) 23 year old Spencer Cowart was just yards away from his family's home when he was allegedly shot by a 16 year old boy. Sunday, Spencer's family told Eyewitness News their hearts ache not only for Spencer, but also the teenager who allegedly shot him.

The same day of the murders on Main Street, 23 year old Spencer Cowart was shot on Sattler Avenue. He died almost two weeks later.

Sunday, loved ones gathered on the same street the shooting took place, holding Spencer's young daughter Savannah, who will never get to know her father.

Spencer's family says he was trying to break up an argument when he was allegedly shot in the head by a 16 year old boy, who is now being charged with murder.

Spencer's aunt, Pamela Cowart, lives right up the street from where Spencer was shot. She called police when she found out the teenager had a gun, and wonders if things would have turned out differently if Buffalo Police responded sooner.

Pamela says there were plenty of adults that could have stopped the shooting. The family of the victim also can't help but feel sorry for the teenager they say is responsible for it all.
