BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - Co-host of 'The View' Joy Behar made a public apology Monday on the daytime talk show for a joke she made referencing the daughter of Republican gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino.

Behar had made a joke last week on the show that Paladino, "could win if all of his illegitimate children vote." The joke referenced Paladino's 10-year-old daughter born out of wedlock.

Paladino fired back the next day saying, "Joy Behar should be absolutely ashamed of herself for referring to Carl's daughter as illegitimate," and that, "Joy is off Carl Paladino's Christmas card list."

On Monday's show, Behar apologized to Paladino for the joke, saying, "I was wrong to do that because the children are not illegitimate. The children are out of wedlock and I don't like the children to think of themselves illegitimate. No child is illegitimate. So for the sake of the joke I went there and I apologize."
