(Cheektowaga, N.Y.) Tueday night, 19-year old Ira Watkins was part of a large group of people who had gathered in the Cheektowaga Town Park.

Police say close to 100 people were at the basketball courts when someone pulled out a handgun and began shooting.

Ira Watkins was hit in the chest area and later died at the St. Joseph's Campus of Sisters Hospital on Harlem Road in Cheektowaga.

Now police are looking through video taken from park and dash-mounted police cameras that may have clues as to whom is responsible.

On Friday, Cheektowaga officials plan to meet with community and civic leaders to discuss the violence and see if they can help in the investigation.

Cheektowaga Police Chief David Zack says they are getting tips but he asks the public to be patient.

"These things are not solved in days, these take weeks."

A vigil for Ira Watkins is scheduled for 6pm Friday evening. It will be held near the basketball courts in the Cheektowaga Town Park.
