BUFFALO, NY ( WKBW / release ) Buffalo Police Homicide Detectives continue their investigation into this morning's shooting death of a Buffalo man.
Police from the Central District responding to a call around 5:20 AM, about shots being fired in the 100 block of Vermont did locate the victim, several houses from where the shooting took place.
The victim fled from the house, but collapsed down the block.
Rescue personnel responded to the scene, but were unable to save the victim.
He has now been identified as Jay Amelio Nieves, 21, of Buffalo.
Police are presently looking for a person of interest in the case, with the same last name as the victim.
Wanted for questioning in the homicide case is 17 year old Joshua Nieves, a Hispanic male, described as being around 6'1" 180 pounds, black hair and brown eyes, with a last known address of Philadelphia Street in the city's Riverside section.
"Anyone knowing the whereabouts of this subject, Joshua Nieves, is encouraged to contact 911 immediately," said Dennis J. Richards, Chief of Detectives.
"He is considered armed and dangerous," Richards added.
After the shooting incident, police believe the gunman had fled on foot, and then may have jumped in to a dark colored mid 1990's model Acura sedan.
