(Gasport, NY) Schools in the Royalton Hartland Central School District opened two hours late on Tuesday.

The delay was caused by vandals who badly damaged several school busses at the Gasport location of Ridge Road Express.

Ridge Road Express is contracted to provide transportation for Royalton Hartland.

According to school officials, vandals broke a large window to get into the transportation building at 8687 Rochester Road in Gasport.

Once inside, they took keys for several busses.

The vandals then broke windows and destroyed ignition systems on five busses.

The vandalism was discovered by morning workers at Ridge Road Express who called Middleport Police and the Niagara County Sheriff's Office.

Police secured the bus depot for evidence, but that prevented bus drivers from getting out to make their pickups on time.

Niagara County Sheriff's are now looking at security camera footage of the break-in.

The say the vandals will face felony burglary and vandalism charges.

A damage cost was still be calculated, but officials at Ridge Road Express say they expect it to be thousands of dollars.
