Buffalo- More than 45,000 vacant structures now plague the city of Buffalo.

Some local experts contribute the growing trend to the fact that over the last 40 years nearly 300,000 people have moved out of the city and about 90,000 jobs have been lost.

Government reformer, Kevin Gaughan also sited public policies that encourage and reward people and businesses for moving out of the city and into suburban areas.

The city of Buffalo says despite the large numbers they have reduced vacancy in the city from 22% to 15.7% since 2006.
