'Underwear Bomber' Sentenced to Life in Prison

According to The Detroit News, the man who was nicknamed the "underwear bomber" after his failed attempt to detonate a bomb aboard a plane headed to Detroit in 2009 was sentenced to life in prison on Thursday by a U.S. District Judge.

Umar Farouk Abdulmutalla, 25, pleaded guilty in October to attempted murder, attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction and conspiracy to commit an act of terrorism, according to the Detroit News report.
