Former U.S. Mint Police Officer Admits Stealing $2.4 Million in Coins

A 64-year-old man who formerly worked as a police officer at the U.S. Mint in Philadelphia pleaded guilty in federal court to stealing $2.4 million in error coins and selling them to a California coin distributor, according to a story by the Gloucester County Times

According to the report, the man began stealing the $1 presidential coins from the mint in around 2007. He is scheduled to be sentenced in December.
