Two Teens Hit By Car in Amherst

AMHERST, NY (WKBW-TV) - Two teenagers remain in critical condition after being struck by an SUV.

Amherst Police have identified the girls as 13 year-old Erin Suszynski and 13 year-old Briana Francios.

A spokesperson for the Amherst Police Department tells Eyewitness News the teens were part of a group of three girls attempting to cross Maple Road in Amherst at 7:24p.m. Saturday, near the intersection with Culpepper Road.

The group was standing in the median when two of the girls ran into oncoming traffic in an attempt to cross the road, and were struck by a Jeep. The third girl stayed in the median. Her identity has not been released.

Suszynski was taken to Women and Children's Hospital and Francios to ECMC. Both are listed in critical condition.

The incident was witnessed by an on-duty Amherst Police officer stopped at the intersection. No charges have been filed against the driver.

The accident remains under investigation.
