WESTERN NEW YORK (WKBW) - Two people were killed in two early morning crashes in the Southtowns Wednesday.
At approximately 1:30 a.m., a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu was traveling southbound on Maple Hill Road at an excessive speed, when the operator lost control and went off the east side of the road. The vehicle became airborne and overturned several times.
The driver, 34-year-old Justin Gaydek of Maple Hill Road in Wales, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The second crash is still being investigated by police.
Police say 28 year-old Thomas Vogt was riding his motorcycle northbound on Route 400 in Elma, when he exited onto the northbound Transit Road off ramp, lost control, and struck the guiderail.
At about 7:30 a.m., a passing motorist spotted the 2007 Honda motorcycle lying on its side and called 911. State Police and Spring Brook Fire Department responded to the scene.
Vogt was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital where he later died.
