(Clarence Center, N.Y) After two years of planning, a 10,000 pound piece of steel beam from the destroyed World Trade Towers was delivered to the Clarence Center Volunteer Fire Company.
It is the centerpiece of a newly re-named Memorial Park which sits next to the Fire Hall.
The 4 inch rusted and twisted steel I-beam was dedicated at special Labor Day services attended by several local dignitaries.
It was unveiled only days before the tenth anniversary of the terrorists attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.
The Memorial Park also pays homage to the victims of the Flight 3407 airplane crash, and deceased members of the Clarence Center Volunteer Fire Company.
