NASA on Saturday launched a pair of space probes designed to study the interior of the moon, according to a story on Space.com.

The three-month Grail program is designed to help scientists understand the moon's composition and its evolutionary history, and map its gravitational field, the story says.

"We've used gravity science before, however these have been very primitive attempts compared to what Grail will be able to accomplish," Grail program scientist Robert Fogel said in a news conference earlier this week.
