Truck Accident Spills Milk

TOWN OF LANCASTER, NY ( NYS Police) The New York State Police, Buffalo Thruway, investigated a 2 tractor trailer accident on July 19, 2011 at 10:30 pm.

On the I-90 eastbound in the Town of Lancaster:

Vehicle 1, a full size tandem tractor trailer transporting Meadow Dairy products, operated by Mark Strain, age 45, of Union City Pennsylvania.

Vehicle 2, parked on the right shoulder disabled, owned by Refrigerated Transport of Rochester NY

Vehicle 1 was eastbound in the driving lane when the right front trailer struck the rear of vehicle 2. The accident caused the rear tandem trailer to disconnect and rollover, coming to rest on its side blocking the westbound lanes. Hundreds of plastic gallons and ½ gallons of milk were spread across and blocking the eastbound lanes.

Bowmansville and Mill Grove Fire departments responded to the scene, no injuries were reported.

Both vehicles were towed off by Rusiniak’s Service.

Westbound traffic was initially able to get by in the right shoulder until the trailer was able to towed out of the lanes at approx. 11:30 pm.

Eastbound traffic was diverted off at the Depew Interchange until the lanes were re-opened at 2:55 am.

The driver of Vehicle 1 was cited for move from lane unsafely.
