Batavia,NY (WKBW) - The New York State Police held their annual Police Memorial Service at Troop A Headquarters in Batavia. The ceremony honors all the men and women who were killed in the line of duty. Troopers believe this year's ceremony has special meaning with the recent death of Trooper Kevin Dobson. Dobson was struck and killed on the 290 in March while issuing a traffic ticket.
"He loved life and wanted everyone to be happy," said Richard Dobson, Kevin's brother. "Most of all, people need to be safe with what their doing."
Dobson's death has also raised awareness for the new 'Move Over' Law, that requires drivers to immediately change lanes or slow down if they see law enforcement vehicles pulled over on the side of the road.
