The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) today announced that daily lane closures are scheduled to begin next Monday, July 22, on NY Route 417, in the vicinity of north First Street, in the village of Allegany, Cattaraugus County. These lane closures are necessary to conduct bridge maintenance. Eastbound and westbound traffic on NY Route 417 will alternate the use of one travel lane, and will be controlled by temporary traffic signals. The work is expected to last approximately two weeks.
Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver’s license.
