BUFFALO, NY ( WKBW ) Speaker of the House, Republican John Boehner will be making a stop in Western New York Monday to endorse Jane Corwin. Boehner will visit Salvatore's Italian Gardens in Depew for a campaign luncheon fundraiser.

Corwin is running in the special election to fill the seat left vacant in the 26th district when Chris Lee resigned. That election is scheduled for May 24th.

Recently, Boehner and other key Republicans have been criticized by family members of Flight 3407 for supporting an amendment that they feel would minimize airline safety regulations passed after the crash.

Kevin Kuwik, who lost his fiance in the crash, told Eyewitness News on Sunday that it is critical that the family members meet with Boehner while he is in Western New York, to share their painful stories and impress their desire to maintain strong regulations for air safety.

Representatives from Corwin's campaign confirmed with Eyewitness News that Speaker Boehner will have an opportunity to meet with those family members on Monday.

In response to the Boehner appearance, candidate Jack Davis decided to announce a campaign luncheon fundraiser. His event will be at Zorba's Texas Hots, on Transit Road nearly a mile from the Corwin event.

Democrat Kathy Hochul announced she will meet with the "National Committee To Preserve Social Security and Medicare" at a 2pm meeting at her Clarence campaign office.
