TONAWANDA, NY (WKBW) - The fire happened overnight in the Town of Tonawnada near the corner of Military Avenue and Sheridan Avenue. It is here the Ken-Ton school busses are housed.

Sometime overnight one of those busses caught fire, and police are investigating to see if an arsonist is to blame.

This all started sometime after Midnight, and thanks to the quick action of firefighters, those flames were quickly extinguished but an entire school bus has been destroyed and 2 others were damaged.

Firefighters say this blaze had the potential to cause serious damage, several school buses are housed in this garage and a larger fire could have paralyzed the district's transportation system.

Luckily there were no injuries but the damage to the property was substantial.

"The bus just had exposure damage and mirror damage. Total damage would be $50,000," said Assistant Chief Shawn Kauffman.

Police were called to the scene after the fire was put out and they are still investigating a cause and if the fire was suspicious.

Eyewitness News will have those details as they become available.

Eyewitness News is also waiting to hear from Ken-Ton school officials on how this may effect the transportation of students this morning.
