BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW ) - Experts say for many children, going back to school stirs up a mix of emotions. Many are excited for the new year ahead, but also anxious about new teachers, new classmates, and new experiences.

Adolescent psychologists suggest adapting a schedule in your household by keeping consistent the time your child wakes up, eats breakfast, and completes homework.

Also, check in with your student's teacher periodically to keep up on progress.

Third, if your student has trouble making friends, after-school activities are a great place to meet like-minded people and build friendships.
