BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - Former Buffalo Bills star Thurman Thomas is sending mixed signals about whether he is interested in running for political office.

GOP party sources tell Eyewitness News that former Republican gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino has been trying to recruit Thomas to run for Congress against Rep. Brian Higgins.

Eyewitness News This Morning anchor Ginger Geoffrey mentioned the report on Twitter this morning and Thomas responded.

"Why so I can have a bunch of clowns ravage my personal life? No thanks," Thomas said via his Twitter account.

But hours later, Thomas deleted the post leaving many wondering if he was actually considering a run.

"I do think Thurman Thomas brings a different component to the race," said Eyewitness News Political Analyst Bob Davis.

"It's a safe Democratic district," he said. "But Thurman Thomas being who he is, I think he can make this a real tough race for Congressman Higgins."
