BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - Truckers are spending the night off the roads thanks to the blizzard-like conditions out on the roads.

"It's just so cold you can't defrost anything. And you got to constantly play with your ice scraper in one hand, your wheel with the other," said truck driver Paul Glasser.

"The problem is looking through two ice cubes, because the windshield wipers get pretty much screwed up."

The big rigs are lined up at Jim's Truck Stop on Walden Avenue in Cheektowaga.

The 90 -- the New York State Thruway -- along with several other major local highways are closed until further notice.

Driving conditions are downright dangerous... with constant white-out conditions and slick roads.

"I think it's a mess. I think people need to stay in the house. And I just hope the lights and stuff don't cut off," said Lasandra Harris, who stocked up on essentials at the grocery store.

"My refrigerator and cabinets are backed and ready to go."
