BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - Just as the semester begins at Buffalo State college, a horrific attack on three students when they went off-campus to a nearby restaurant.
Their parents are now calling on the college to provide more security.
It was just before 11:30 P.M. friday night, when three students, including Larry Muhammad's son Jabril, returned from a track meet and went out to grab a late night snack.
They ended up near Grant Street and Potomac Avenue.
According to people in the neighborhood there are several late-night places to find food, but Jabril and his roomates never made it.
Buffalo police say at least five suspects came up from behind and attacked them.
We spoke to Jabril's family outside of ECMC, where he is awaiting surgery. The other two students are bruised up but okay.
Other students unrelated to the incident say Grant Street is a well-known danger-zone, but if your'e an out-of town student or incoming freshman, you'd never know.
Buffalo State College Administrators have issued an advisory to the "student body", warning them to travel in groups and be aware of their surroundings at all times.
