This Week at Canalside

July 28, 2011 Updated Jul 28, 2011 at 1:08 PM EDT

Buffalo, N.Y. (WKBW release) -- The centerpiece of the Buffalo Place Rocks the Harbor concert series – The Tragically Hip – highlights the Canalside schedule over the next week.

Tickets for The Tragically Hip, who are set to play Saturday, July 30, sold out within hours, and attendance is expected to top 11,000. Attendees are going to be treated to one of North America’s premier bands, in a setting that Jeff Miers of the Buffalo News called “one of the finest venues in Western New York to take in a concert.”

In addition to the Hip, there are plenty of opportunities to take in live music this week.

Legendary performer George Clinton takes the stage on Thursday, July 28 for a free Thursday at the Square Concert on Canalside’s main stage. On Sunday, July 31, Flogging Molly will bring its powerful blend of punk and Celtic music to the waterfront (tickets are still available, call 716-856-3150 for more information.)

If you are looking for something unique, M’Baye Jama Jama African World Drum holds its first drum circle of the summer on Friday, July 29 and the best of Western New York’s student musicians will be featured during the “Music is Art” Summer Showcase on Monday, August 1.
