BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - Some participants in Sunday's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk report that someone broke into their car and stole their belongings during the event in downtown Buffalo.

The family of breast cancer survivor Bonnie Gamby was walking in her honor when a few hundreds yards into their walk one of Bonnie's daughters returned to their car at Franklin and Court Streets. She says she found one of the car doors open and all of their purses stolen. The items in the purses include a thousand dollars in cash as well as cell phones, credit cards and other personal belongings.

"I was probably away from the vehicle maybe ten minutes," says Lisa Guenot, "Just a shame we're down here for such a good event, and people are preying on our hardships."

The family has filed a police report but so far no one has been arrested for the crime.
