Thursday night was an emotional day for family and friends of close to 40 members of the 107th Airlift Wing who returned home.

The airmen and women spent the past four months in a undisclosed location in southwest Asia as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Their mission was cargo and passenger transport and air drops utilizing the C 130. This mission was its final combat mission.

The 107th received a new mission which replaces their work with the C 130 with the MQ 9. The MQ 9 is an unmanned remote controlled aircraft used to strike enemy targets and collect intelligence.

The new mission ultimately means the unit will see a reduction in staff. Exact details of the cutbacks have not been released.
