Texas de Brazil has set a June opening date for its Walden Galleria location.
The Dallas-based Brazilian steakhouse chain, last year, signed a lease to occupy the 7,500-square-foot former Hyde Park Steakhouse site at the Walden Galleria. Hyde Park closed with no advance warning in 2013.
The Walden Galleria site will be the chain's fourth in New York state, with others in Manhattan, Syracuse and Yonkers. Texas de Brazil will also be opening restaurants in Rochester and Albany later this year.
Texas de Brazil will seat up to 230 people in the Walden Galleria location.
Officials said Texas de Brazil features southern Brazilian cuisine with its signature meats cooked over an open flame in an open viewing area in the center of the restaurant. All of the meals are served by authentically-costumed Brazilian cowboys, or gauchos.
"For a city so rich in history and culture, we feel our offerings will be a perfect fit for this community," said Salim Asrawi, Texas de Brazil chief operating officer.
Texas de Brazil also offers a salad bar area with more than 50 fresh items to be selected.
The Walden Galleria site will be in the late afternoon hours for the dinner and late-night crowd.
Texas de Brazil was founded in 1998. The chain has 28 U.S. locations and three international sites. Besides the Albany and Rochester locations, other new restaurants are planned for Cleveland, New Orleans, Tulsa and Washington.
