Teenager Dies After Football Injury

BROCTON, N.Y. (WKBW) A 16-year old student who was critically injured during a varsity football game on Friday evening September 13th was now died from his injuries.

Damon Janes, a junior student for the Westfield-Brocton football team, suffered a serious injury during the 3rd quarter after being involved in a helmet-to-helmet collision.

Westfield-Brocton was playing at Portville Central School and the hurt player was initially taken to Olean General Hospital.

Janes was later transported to Women & Children's Hospital in Buffalo where he was listed in critical condition over the weekend.

In a statement issued by Damon Janes' parents, his family said the teenager had "lost his fight for life and went to be with the Lord."

His parents also expressed their gratitude "to those who have supported and prayed for Damon and his family, and continue to request that their privacy be respected at this time."
