BUFFALO, N.Y (WKBW) 17-year old Demetrius Huff and 16-year old Ezeiekile Nafi were arraigned in Buffalo City Court.
The two teens face 2nd degree murder charges in connection with the death of 16-year old Darren Brown.
The murder victim's body was found by a passer-by on a piece of old railroad property located near Tauton Place in North Buffalo, on Friday evening July 6th.
According to investigators, the two defendants stabbed the 16-year old multiple times, put a flammable substance on him, and set him on fire.
Police say the body was badly mutilated by the blaze.
Mayor Byron Brown is trying to calm the nerves of neighbors who live close to where the body was found.
"This was not a random act of violence. The suspects who have been arrested had an acquaintance with Darren Brown." commented Mayor Brown.
City Court Judge Susan Eagan ordered the two defendants held without bail.
They are being charged as adults and could face a sentence of 25-years to life if convicted.
Huff and Nafi are scheduled to return to court on July 16 for a felony hearing.
Buffalo Police are continuing to investigate the murder, and say more arrests are possible.
