Batavia, N.Y. (WKBW) - The tragic and sudden death of Collin Crane, 17, has touched the entire Batavia community and beyond. Those who knew him will hold a candlelight vigil at Batavia High School, Tuesday night.
Crane, a student at Batavia High School, died just after 6 p.m. Saturday night when his car swerved into oncoming traffic along Route 33 and Route 247 in the Town of Stafford.
Since then, there have been many Facebook pages made in his honor. People said he was a spirited person, friendly and easy to talk to.
Principal of Batavia High School Shawn Clark spoke about a student, he says, will be missed.
"Shy but the kids pointed out his wonderful sense of humor once you got to know him. He was a great student and loved hockey and he had a lot of friends on his hockey team," Clark said.
Police don't know why Crane's car crossed into the other lane but they are waiting for autopsy results. The investigation continues.
The vigil will be held at Batavia High School from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. this evening.
