BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) -Dozens of teachers lined South Division St. this morning, in front of a Buffalo Public School, saying ten years without a new contract is far too long.
"We haven't had a new contract in ten years," Buffalo teacher Alice Lawrence said. "We're working our tails off in the classroom, we're doing everything the state has asked us and everything the board has asked us, and still no contract."
The last collective bargaining agreement between the Buffalo Teachers Federation and the Buffalo Board of Education happened back in June of 2004.
A fact finder is currently looking over the situation from both sides and will release findings sometime in the next few weeks.
This morning's protest was just the start, with teacher protests expected every week until a new agreement is made.
