TRAVELER ADVISORY

The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) today announced upcoming lane and ramp closures scheduled on Interstate 290, in the towns of Tonawanda and Amherst Erie County as follows:

Sunday, July 14
Lane closures are scheduled for Sunday, July 14, from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., on Interstate 290 eastbound in the vicinity of Exit 2, Colvin Boulevard (NY Route 425). The right two lanes will be closed to conduct bridge maintenance.

Monday July 15
Nightly lane closures will occur on Monday, July 15, from 7:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. on Interstate 290 westbound, between Exit 1, NY Route 284 (Delaware Avenue), and Interstate 190, to conduct highway paving.

Tuesday, July 16
Nightly lane closures will occur on Tuesday, July 16, from 7:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. on Interstate 290 eastbound, between Interstate 190 and Exit 1, NY Route 284 (Delaware Avenue). In addition, the Interstate 190 southbound ramp to Interstate 290 eastbound will be reduced to one lane.

Wednesday, July 17 through Friday, July 19
Nightly lane closures will occur on Wednesday, July 17 through Friday July 19, from 7:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. on Interstate 290 eastbound, between Exit 1, NY Route 284 (Delaware Avenue), and Exit 5, Interstate 990, to conduct highway paving.

This work is weather sensitive and will be delayed in the event of inclement weather.

Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver’s license.
