Friday, New York State Senator Tim Kennedy held a news conference announcing two new bills that he is sponsoring. One law makes the sale of synthetic marijuana illegal and the other makes possesion of fake pot illegal.

Kennedy has reason to be concerned, new data reveals the sale of synthetic marijuana is higher in Western New York than in any other part of the state.

Reports of serious medical complications including heart attacks and strokes in teenagers has prompted the state to issue an emergency public health alert.

Senator Charles Schumer is pushing legislation on a federal level to ban the drug.

Bath salts which mimic the effects of taking Meth would also be outlawed if the new laws are passed.
