Buffalo police have arrested a West Seneca man in connection with Tuesday night's police pursuit that ended near Bailey Avenue and Dingens Street. Arrested was 29 year old Peter Jankowski of West Seneca. He faces numerous charges including multiple counts of reckless endangerment in the first degree, two counts of felony criminal mischief, criminal possession of a weapon, assault, fleeing a police officer, resisting arrest, obstruction of governmental administration, reckless driving, speeding and other charges.
Police say the pursuit began when Jankowski was spotted driving down streets in the wrong direction.
Jankowski remains at ECMC in serious condition. At
one point, police attempted to stop him but Jankowski took off apparently striking one officer with his vehicle and almost striking another officer. At some point, officer or officers discharged their weapon. Jankowski was apparently struck in the neck area. As is standard policy, the incident remains under investigation by the Internal Affairs Division of the Buffalo Police Department.
