BALLANTYNE, N.C. -- ( WSOSTV.com ) Fayetteville police have arrested the man suspected in the slaying of a pregnant woman at the Flying Biscuit Café in Ballantyne. Police said Mark Cox was arrested at a friend's house at 1 p.m. without incident.
Police said Danielle Watson, 25, was slain just days after she heard her baby's heartbeat for the first time.
On Monday, police released a 911 call from Watson's fiancé, Keith Smith. In the call, Smith tells the operator that he's worried that something has gone wrong and that his girlfriend was supposed to have been home hours earlier and that he's worried she might have been robbed.
Police believe Cox, a co-worker, killed her late Friday night.
For the first time, prosecutors will be able to use a new state law to charge Cox with two counts of murder -- one for Watson and one for her unborn baby.
Watson is a native of Lockport, New York. Her aunt, uncle, and grandparents reside in the area.
