Supporters Of Lafayette and East High School Want to be Heard
Concerned parents, teachers, students and administrators gathered on the steps of Lafayette High School this afternoon to bring attention to the proposed turn-around plan for East and Lafayette. The coalition believes community members should be at the center of the discussions
and that any policy-making meetings should happen in Buffalo and not in Albany
Lisa Griffith, a staff member and parent of a child who will be attending Lafayette High School had some choice words for Commissioner King.
"Stop throwing our children away they are not disposable and they are not pawns they are intelligent, innovative, creative, outgoing and are enthusiastic young people who deserve to be treated with respect and dignity please remember our school is not a failing school, we are a school with challenges so Commissioners King come on down and meet us."
Superintendent Doctor Pamela Brown will meet with Commissioner King in Albany tomorrow to discuss the district's revised turn-around plan.
A state-approved plan must be in place by 5pm tomorrow.
