179 million people are expected to watch the Super Bowl on Sunday. That's an all time high and it's up from 172.5 million last year.

Businesses, from pizzerias to electronics stores, are hoping to score by boosting business with those Super Bowl fans.

A new survey by the Retail Advertising and Marketing Association shows that the average game watcher will spend $68.54 on Super Bowl Sunday, up from about $64 last year. Researchers say total Super Bowl spending is expected to reach nearly $12.3 billion.

So what are people buying? Here's a look at 2013 Super Bowl spending: 132 million people say they will buy wings, pizza chips and soda. 17 million will buy team apparel. 7.5 million will buy new TVs. (Young adults are most likely to splurge on a new TV.) 7.5 million will buy decorations and 3.9 million will buy new furniture.

As for the big question, do you watch for the game or commercials? The game wins!! 45% of people say they watch for the game. Only 26% say they watch for commercials. But almost 77% of people see the commercials as entertainment.
