Suicide Investigation At Erie County Holding Center

BUFFALO, NY ( RELEASE ) The Erie County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation into a suicide that occurred today inside the Erie County Holding Center.

At approximately 11:50am, a deputy conducting observation checks on the Foxtrot South housing unit discovered Inmate Trevell Walker, age 36, hanging from the sink of his cell by his bed sheet. Medical assistance and CPR was administered immediately to Inmate Walker. He was subsequently transported to Buffalo General Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Trevell Walker was arrested by the Cheektowaga Police Department on December 7th, 2010, following a violent domestic between him and his 36 year old wife, where he allegedly stabbed her to death. He was received at the Holding Center that same date. Inmate Walker was being held in the Holding Center pending a trial for the Murder charge at the time he committed suicide. A suicide note was discovered inside the inmate’s cell.

The investigation is continuing at this time. Undersheriff Wipperman will be available for any follow up questioning at 5:30pm @ the Sheriff’s Office 10 Delaware Avenue conference room.
