Study: Weight Watchers Outperforms Doctor-Prescribed Advice

A new study shows that dieters lost twice as much weight over the course of a year through Weight Watchers than through guidance from their doctors, according to a USA Today story.

The study, which was published Wednesday in the medical journal The Lancet, reported that people in three countries who followed Weight Watchers lost an average of 15 pounds a year. Those who followed weight-loss advice from their doctors lost an average of seven pounds according to the report.
