(WKBW) The FBI's Buffalo Division is working to keep our kids safe online.

Agents helped to kick off the FBI Safe Online Surfing (S.O.S.) Initiative at the Buffalo Academy of Science Charter School Monday.

This initiative is a free educational program designed to deliver critical Internet safety information to children in grades three through eight.

"We're trying to get the message out to local youths that the internet is a great place to be, a great place to learn, and a great tool to use," said Special Agent Christopher Piehota. "But we all have to be responsible when using it."

The program emphasizes the importance of cyber safety topics, such as password safety, smart surfing habits, and the safeguarding of personal information.
