(Buffalo, NY) WKBW - In Buffalo, parts of Elmwood Avenue near W. Utica Street were closed for a while Friday morning, after a large tree limb came crashing down. The limb slammed into a car and hit a pedestrian. Firefighters and emergency crews on the scene say the person wasn't seriously hurt.
Channel 7 has received calls and e-mails from concerned parents about why schools remained open, and children's safety put at risk at the bus stop. One school district has returned our calls. The Niagara Falls School District says it has had crews evaluating the area since five in the morning on Friday, and deemed it was safe for school to open.
As of noon Friday, the Buffalo Zoo was closed because of several trees down.
